
Google Launches AI Mode in Search: What It Means
After seeing positive responses from users following the use of AI Overviews in search results, Google is rolling out a new AI Mode search option over the next few weeks. The new search functionality promises to provide fast answers to complex queries.
Looking for the lowest cost tickets to a game in a certain stadium section? With search powered by AI Mode, all ticket sites are crawled and the best option is presented.
Want to snag that product you saw on TikTok at the best price? A new AI Mode shopping experience will let you virtually try on products and allow Google to buy them for you "when the price is right" without leaving the search experience. (Hint: If you don't already accept Google Pay, it's time to get the ball rolling.)
IMPO, AI Mode is Google's way of combating the increasing usage of ChatGPT and other AI tools for search, and is another step forward in Google's desire to "be the answer."
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) was already at the forefront of SEO, and with the rollout of AI Mode Google is solidifying it's future dominance in search.
The good news? Many of the foundational principles of SEO also apply to GEO.
